IN THE BEGINNING……
Throughout it’s 150-plus years as a member of the Westerville community, Central
College Church has placed a unique emphasis upon Christian Education. Central
College Christian Academy (CCCA) was chartered by the State of Ohio Department
of Education and opened in 1998, with one class of 20 kindergartners in a small,
older building next door to Central College Church. |

...TODAY |
|
The
continued commitment and support of Central College Church to
high-quality education
in a nurturing, Christian environment is quite evident – from
CCCA’s new state-of-the-art facility, opened in 2003, to
the outstanding teaching staff, to the current K – 5 student
body over 160 strong. CCCA offers our students the best of both
worlds: the fresh, creative approach of a relatively young private
school, combined with a centuries-old heritage of educational
excellence in the Christian tradition. |

| SCHOOL
VERSE... |

“Train
up a child in the way that he should go and when he is old, he
will not depart from it…”

| ACADEMICS... |
|
|
|
|
| CCCA
exceeds the requirements set forth by the State of Ohio Board of
Education and is chartered by the State
of Ohio for grades K – 5. CCCA is also a member of the Association
of Christian Schools International (ACSI), which provides religious
and testing materials for our curriculum. In keeping with our stated
philosophy, CCCA follows and enriches the basic school curriculum
for all grades as outlined by the Academic Content Standards, prepared
by the State of Ohio Board of Education. The regular school program
includes:
•Art •Bible
study •Citizenship •Computer
•Health •Language
arts (reading, writing, spelling, language)
•Physical
Education •Social
Studies •Science
•Math • Music •Spanish
The curriculum and approach are enriched in our aim for nurturing
and educating the whole child:
• Spiritual and moral development
•Intellectual development
•Physical development
•Emotional and Social development
•Cultural development
*We
participate annually in the Ohio Department of Education Achievement
and Proficiency Tests. We also take the annual Stanford Achievement
Tests through ASCI each spring. We appreciate the opportunity to
celebrate our achievements and strengths, as well as to plan for
additional curriculum growth.

...CLASS
SIZES |
|
We
believe that young children can thrive in a smaller school environment.
Our maximum class size is 22 students per one teacher. If 23
or more children are assigned to one grade level and space does
not permit two rooms, a second teacher is hired. Team teaching
occurs in such larger classrooms. We limit enrollment to 30 children
in these situations. In this more intimate environment,
relationships
are stronger
between
children,
staff
and parents. As a result, many students receive more individual
attention. |

|
| TEXTBOOKS... |
|
|
|
|
| CCCA uses a combination of the Bible instruction
and secular textbooks. The School Board is responsible for the evaluation
of our textbooks and recommending changes that would enhance our
curriculum and enable our students to higher academic achievement.
In the presentation of Christian or secular text, the staff is skilled
at presenting a Christian worldview. |

...TECHNOLOGY |
|
Our
Computer Lab is state-of-the-art. 22 PCs, in addition to the
PC in each classroom, are utilized for
both structured and unstructured computer education for each grade.
The addition of SMART BOARDS© in
each classroom provides a new level of instructional opportunity. |

| EXTRACURRICULARS |
|
|
|
| In
addition to a variety of enriching field trips, and programs and
presentations we bring to the school, we have offered
opportunities such as outdoor education, clubs, and student council,
leveraging the time and talents of our teaching staff, volunteer
parents and other outside experts. We continually seek ways to enrich
student education through extracurricular activities. Our students
(and teachers!) work hard and we always look for ways to have fun
and celebrate our progress. |

|
|
| SCHOOL
SUPPORT... |
|
|
|
|
We
encourage and greatly appreciate parental involvement. One important
way to get involved and support the school
is participation in the Parent-Teacher Fellowship (PTF). The purpose
of the PTF is to 1) foster fellowship between parents, teachers and
other parents, 2) encourage and support parents in raising their
children in a Christian way of life and, 3) raise funds for various
special projects and needs for the school. Our fundraising activities
have focused primarily on those that encourage even more fun and
fellowship, vs. direct selling. Examples include our annual Gala
and Ice Cream Social.
From PTF participation, fundraising activities,
coordinating class parties, chaperoning field trips, helping out
in our lunchroom, to leveraging the Scrips program for daily purchase,
there are many opportunities to serve and participate in the ways
that interest you most. |

...TRANSPORTATION |
|
We
have been so blessed to have the support of Westerville City
Schools with bus transportation
for our students living within the Westerville City School district.
Many of our students arrive and/or go home each day on the bus.
Several daycare providers also provide transportation to and from
our school. And, many students are transported to/from school by
individual parents and/or car pools. |

UNIFORMS and DRESS CODES... |
|
|
|
|
| Our school uniform policy serves as another
tool in fostering the academic, character-building andself-respecting
environment we believe God wants our children to learn in.
The approved school
uniforms are the required dress for every student attending CCCA.
Uniform attire may be purchased from any
of the 3 approved, local vendors. One of these vendors makes
it especially convenient for our families by accepting phone
and
fax orders (and the clothes are delivered directly to the school
for
pick-up) and even coming on site annually for fittings and taking
orders. At least monthly, we celebrate Spirit Day and other special
events where students may wear CCCA-logoed sweatshirts or t-shirts.
Much more detail can be found in our school handbook and other
materials available in our information folder and by request.
